There was an error submitting your attempt

This is the error when submitting a video recorded in Canvas for an assignment (screenshot included). The video was 2 mins long. I then attempted to record a 30 sec video with the same result. I attempted to upload a video recorded separately on another device and received the same error when attempting to upload. My Chrome browser is version 128 which is listed as approved on your site. The recorded video was 245mg which is well within the file size limit for upload and well within the file size limitations for the class (obviously I have been reading through the other troubleshooting posts you see). There is no network error on my end as I was able to airdrop this same video between devices on this network and upload it to an email for my instructor when your software failed me. Please do not respond with a suggestion to create a YouTube channel to upload my videos from which I saw suggested in another troubleshooting post, that's just insulting.

Hi Ashley,

I know how frustrating it can be when your video won’t upload, especially after trying multiple times. This kind of error usually happens because of browser or file issues, even when the file size and format look fine. Here are a few things that often help:

  1. Clear your browser’s cache and cookies.

  2. Try a private/incognito window or a different browser.

  3. Make sure your internet connection is stable.

  4. Ask your instructor to check if the course storage is nearly full.

  5. Upload the video through “My Media” first, then embed it in the assignment.

  6. If it still doesn’t work, reach out to Canvas Support with your browser version, file details, and a screenshot—they can check things on their end.  - How do I get help with Canvas?

These steps usually solve the problem, and I hope one of them works for you so you can submit your video successfully!
