Transfer student's course content from one account to another within the same course.

We have a case in which one of our students' information was unfortunately confused. The student had previously been enrolled at the university in the on-ground format, but switched to the online format. However, she was re-enrolled as a new student, and this generated a series of complications because her information already existed and was duplicated. The fact is that she had already been in a course for more than half of an academic term with the incorrect information. The Registry Department enrolled her with her correct identity, but now, in order for it to sync with our SIS and for her grade to be transferred to her record, we are looking for ways to transfer the student's course content under her incorrect username to her correct username (the institution decided to remove the new enrollment with the wrong user account, which was actually an obvious mistake). We haven't found a viable option for transferring her assignments from one account to the other within the same course, unless it is done manually. I understand that this is an exception and not a common process, but the question is: Is there a seamless way to make this type of transfer from one student account to another?

If you have the access to do it, you can merge the 2 user accounts together & then remove the wrong information from the user account, by deleting the login for the wrong account.

in the user profile page > click on Merge with another user

Then you can search for the other account by name or ID#

Then you will see a warning showing which account will be kept & which will be removed:

At the bottom you can choose to swap which account they are merged to or merge the accounts:

Once they are merged you go back to the user profile page & remove the second login information:

All of the student work will automatically update to the new account with the merge process, so you won't need to do any manual shuffling.

But if that wrong account is deleted, wouldn't the information be lost even if the merge has already been done?

No, you can still restore the user & then complete the merge & re-delete the other login. The only time it is totally gone gone is if you contact Instructure to purge the data completely.
