[ARCHIVED] Unable to reopen assessment in New Quizzes

Every time I try to reopen an assessment in new quizzes, even after I removed the time limit, my student is unable to open the quiz? I did go back and changed the "until time" but no luck.  She can reopen the quiz but then it immediately closes. . .  any ideas???

Hi @d_truax,

That is very strange. So you reopened your student's assessment, removed the time restriction, and made sure the quiz's until date/time hadn't passed? If so and it's still not working for her, I'd recommend reaching out to Canvas Support for further assistance as they can look at your specific Canvas instance.

Why do we need to "remove the time restriction". The message that pops up when we hit reopen in new quizzes says "previous responses are recorded and the timer will continue with the remaining time". We had a power outage today and I tried to "reopen" and it didn't work 😞

I am having the same problem. Every time I try to reopen the student gets the message "Time's up! View results" even after they hit "resume" button; like it seems to be reopening, but doesn't actually. Re-opening should let them resume from where they left off, but I've had no luck no matter how I try to reopen/add time.

This also just happened to one of my students. They accidentally submitted the quiz before uploading a file to the last part. Reopening the quiz first just immediately said "Thank you for your submission" and auto-submitted the quiz again as soon as they opened it. I then enabled more of the student feedback options so they could see the questions at least. Then reopening allowed them to go back and view the questions and what they input, but it was entirely view only because it had resubmitted the quiz again as soon as they opened it.

The only workaround I found was to give the student another "attempt", but then they had to re-enter all their answers manually in the new attempt.

It seems to me that the Reopen feature is fundamentally broken and has been for a while by the looks of this thread. Any plans to fix?
