Updating LTI Advantage

I am desperately trying to get my university to update LTI Advantage 1.1 to LTI Advantage 1.3. But it's not on the official Texas state list of approved software. And I am having no success convincing them it should be.

So I came here to see if...

1. Anyone else in the Lone Star State has had to get it approved at their institution and what it took to make that happen.

Or...

2. Someone at Instructure can send me an email or something explaining that LTI Advantage is an integral part of Canvas. Since Canvas is state-approved, I'd like to have LTI Advantage 1.3 piggy-back on that approval.

Or...

3. Anyone on this forum has a better idea.

Thanks.

Joe

Hi @smilinjoe

I'm afraid that I'm not quite understanding your question?

Neither LTI 1.1 nor LTI 1.3 are "software" or "applications". They are protocols that are used to integrate Canvas (and other learning management systems) with external systems/services.

Canvas allows integrations using both LTI 1.1 and LTI 1.3 specifications.  It is up to the vendor of the remote system/service to determine which LTI spec they will use for that application's integration with Canvas.
