Updating scores in the gradebook

Hello,

We have our quizzes set at 3 attempts. When a student attempts the quiz for the first time and gets 17 out of 18 points, the gradebook shows 17 points. But when the student goes in for their second attempt and they get remaining 1 point, the gradebook doesn't reflect that. I have tried fudging the points but the gradebook still comes up with the refresh icon even though the total points for the student is now 18 out of 18. Is there a way to fix this?

Can you clarify what you mean by "student goes in for their second attempt and they get remaining 1 point"?

Quiz attempts are not cumulative, so the student can't go back and just answer the question that they missed.  In order to score an 18 for the quiz, the student must answer all 18 questions correctly on that attempt, and the quiz must be set to count the keep the highest score.

If the student has answered 17 out of 18 questions correctly in their first attempt, we only request them to answer the 1 they didn't get right. They cannot see their previous responses when they make their 2nd attempt. It would not be fair to ask them to answer all the questions again.

Hi @SuchitraAhlawat 

That's not the way the scoring of quiz attempts works in Canvas.  

The attempt score is determined by the questions the answered correctly in that attempt only.  You may choose to award an overall quiz score based on the highest attempt score, the latest attempt score, or an average of all the attempts, but there is no option to have the student only answer the questions they missed in the previous attempt.
