Video Comments in Speedgrader now taking a long time to post to assignment comments.

The feature in Speedgrader allowing for instructor to record video comments seems to have recently updated. I can see that some additional feature, such as recording the screen are now available, but the process now takes a lot longer and seems to be more likely to fail entirely.

Prior to this semester (2025), I have extensively used the video comment option in Speedgrader to provide personalized feedback on certain assignments. I have never encountered any problems or had difficulty saving these comments to the comments on an assignment. However, with the apparent update that recently changed how video comments work, video comments, even brief ones, tend to take a long time to process and load in the comments section on the assignment. If I leave the page before they appear, the comment that was recorded is lost, or, worse, will sometimes load in the comments section of the next student's assignment.

This has dramatically increased the time I spend in providing feedback to students and may make so I have to forego this feature entirely.

Hi @DustinBelt -- I would recommend submitting this to Canvas Support rather than to this community question forum.    Do you have a way to click on Help in your global navigation and contact Canvas Support to report this?  That might be the better route for this.
