I am a teacher/admin using Canvas at the high school level. I have students coming to my classroom all times throughout the day needing me to reset their passwords. My question is, when they click on the forgot password/request password link, who or where does that notification go to? Is there a way to set it up to come to my email address so they don't have to physically come to my classroom?
Solved! Go to Solution.
The email will come from notifications@instructure.com. They could be going to their SPAM folder or getting blocked or caught in the school's filter. You can also try seeing if the email bounced - How do I view bounced emails. Sometimes we have students who need to verify their email and that's why they are not getting emails - notifications or password reset. I would also check that they are entering the correct information. Our students often enter their email addresses when they only need to enter their username to trigger the password reset email.
Hi @swiftwalker5,
Assuming you're using the build-in Canvas authentication, and not a 3rd party provider (Google, SAML, etc), the forgot/reset password link should sent a notification to the email address associated with the account so users can self-reset their password. I'm not aware of any options to change this process, but users shouldn't really need t come to a Canvas admin to reset their passwords in most cases.
Hope this helps a bit.

That is the weird part. They never get an email to self-reset their password.
