Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

• Check your device compatibility: What are the basic computer specifications for Canvas?
• Check your browser compatibility: What are the browser and computer requirements for Canvas? Note that Internet Explorer 11 is not a supported browser.
• Try a different browser. The latest version of Chrome works great in both Windows and MacOS.
• If none of these methods solve the problem, contact Canvas Support. General instructions are in How do I get help with Canvas as a student? but your school's support setup might vary somewhat, in which case ask your local IT Department for additional troubleshooting assistance.

None of these ideas work if Canvas is literally not opening up. All the pages will show are a vertical gray bar down the left side and if I reload a previous page, it will show any embedded YouTube videos.  Nothing else. No sidebar to select course or help or anything.  I have never seen this happen before, and all other web pages are working normally.

@MarsACaulton If you are using Chrome, try clearing your cache.  Here are the instructions for this.  

Clear cache & cookies - Computer - Google Account Help

Also see if you try a different browser if a different browser helps.  The second link that @djackson posted will tell you all the supported browsers.  If you are not using a supported browser, you will have issues like you are experiencing.

Thanks. I turned off the Google Chrome's new Privacy Sandbox and then I cleared the cache. One of them fixed the problem (I just don't know which one, lol.)
