In speedgrader, When entering a comment then hitting the submit button, a pop up dialogue box with "Your comment has been submitted" covers the zoom controls. Now that's annoying! Any fixes?
Hello there, @Sixecho ...
I tested out posting a comment in the SpeedGrader to a dummy student account in my own sandbox course, and I'm not sure I understand where you are seeing the message covering up zoom controls. Here is what I see in my own SpeedGrader:
I can click on the "x" to the right of the green message, and there isn't anything behind it.
When you say "zoom", are you referring to the Zoom video conferencing software? Or, are you referring being able to zoom in and out to make your screen look bigger/smaller? Maybe a screenshot or a short videocast of the issue you are trying to describe would be helpful? (Please be careful not to share any student identifying information in your screenshots if you choose to go this route.)
Looking forward to hearing back from you soon.
That light green pop-up is the one I'm talking about, and it covers up the + and - zoom view buttons. Quite often I have to zoom into the submission to read it (they scan it in weirdly so the document is tiny)
@Sixecho ...
I see what you mean now...because I hadn't looked at my SpeedGrader with a submitted document. It does cover up those + and - zoom buttons. But, why not just click on the "x" to the immediate right of the word "submitted" in that light green area to get rid of that message so you can access the zoom controls?
Well I can do do click on that to close the pop-up, but that's an extra click and when you're paid so little per submission the marking has to be quick and every second counts! And I'm marking programming assignments so this is a bad bit of programming to open up a pop-up over a control button 🙂
After grading 360 pages of assignments in Canvas, adding many comments, I must say the "Your comment has been submitted" popping up a myriad of times and covering up the zoom controls has become a frustrating annoyance. Since the 2023 positing to which I am replying, there has been no attempt to change the situation. I urge Canvas programmers to rid us of the visual disruption "Your comment has been submitted" and replace it with some other style or type of notification, if it is even necessary to have. Make it time out in four or five seconds. Have a sound play to indicate the submission. A single pleasant tone would be sufficient and quickly ignored if the submitter of the comment must mover quickly to more of the myriad of submissions being assessed.
