why there is no zoom link on canvas?
Also, why there is no tech support for student on canvas?
I contacted the instructor, she indicated it is on homepage for class, which is:
Live Zoom class every Thursday from 6-7 p.m.:
Meeting ID: 829 4999 4794
There is no zoom link and no passcode for the class. I am missing my classes and no-one is helping, including you
@TaraSteiner ...
Canvas and Zoom are two separate products. Although, Zoom can be integrated into the Canvas platform so that instructors and students can access Zoom meetings directly within Canvas. Since your instructor most likely set up the Zoom meeting room for you and your classmates, it's good that you have contacted your instructor directly about this. We here in the Canvas Community wouldn't have access to your Canvas course or your Canvas environment to help support your kind of request.
Also, I would highly recommend that you remove the Zoom room ID number from your posting. Your instructor may not want other people who are not fellow students in your course joining that Zoom meeting room and interrupting your session.
Finally, you had asked about student support from Canvas. Your school may have some kind of support for Canvas. Some options may include on-campus support directly from folks at your school for Canvas. Or, your school may have purchased what is called "Tier 1" support from Instructure (the folks that make Canvas). In this case, there would most likely be a toll-free number available for instructors/students at your school to call Canvas Support for assistance. You can find out more about Canvas Support by checking out these Guides:
Hopefully this information will be of some help to you. Keep us posted here in the Community if you have any questions about this...thanks!
Tara,
If you have a meeting ID (the number you provided in your comment), you do not need a meeting link. Go to Zoom and when you choose the option to Join a Meeting, just paste that 11-digit meeting ID. If your teacher posted the Meeting ID, but did not provide a password, it is possible they have set it up so it does not require a password. As @Chris_Hofer said, it would be best to remove that from your post. If there is no password for the meeting, anyone on Canvas could join that meeting. Click on the three dots to the right of your comment to get an option to edit it so you can remove that number.
As for the "no-one is helping, including you" comment...your teacher is the only one who can help you. Nobody on Canvas will have the password if one is being used, and nobody here can generate a meeting link for you. I understand your frustration, but it sounds like the teacher is making the effort to assist by posting the information on the Course home page. Reach out to them again to confirm if they have a password, and note what is mentioned above about joining using the Meeting ID.
