Hello. Has anyone ever wondered why we can't have percentages of grades next to the course cards on the dashboard? It's driving me crazy flipping back and fourth between courses!
Solved! Go to Solution.
Hello @m09011 - one lesser-known feature is the grades page which lists all courses you are taking and the current grade. Check it out in your Canvas:

I am thinking that there is a desire to not post the score on the dashboard as that is a primary landing page. It could be a privacy issue having the grades visible on that page. For example, you are in the computer lab or in class and as soon as you login the grades show, which can then be seen by those next to you.

Yeah, that didn't work. I was meaning to physically show it on the cards. By jumping back and fourth, I mean not having to switch to that grade tab over and over again. Using a URL like that is just as clunky. Bookmarks take up too much space. Maybe I should just make a javascript bookmarklet to enable the ability to look into the page and push the grades onto the actual cards, like on the student app. This problem should not be marked as solved. This is not the solution. Also, I am in college, not grade school. This is too time consuming for me, as I am frustrated with clicking my course,
Hi @m09011,
Apologies for any confusion caused by the "solution" tag. That's the wording the platform the community runs on uses, and it can't be customized. Basically "solved/solution" means your question was answered. I would concur with what @Jeff_F said myself. The apps are primarily used on phones/personal devices where it's unlikely that people would see a dashboard by accident. The web version of Canvas is different in that it's often accessed on screens other people would see. That doesn't mean anyone else would see your screen necessarily, but it's a factor I'm sure Instructure considered and is one of the big reasons grades aren't front and center on a dashboard on web Canvas.
With all that being said, even though this is an answer, I know you may not like the answer given. You can definitely submit this suggestion as an idea for Instructure to consider in web Canvas. We can't guarantee the idea will be selected for development, but you can definitely make your voice heard by creating the idea.
I hope this helps clarify things a bit.
