free draw output is offset to the upper left corner of the bounding box for the pen icon

The output from the free draw icon is in the upper left corner of the bounding box for the icon instead of the lower left where the "point" of the pen icon is. This happens with both mouse and stylus applications in both chrome and firefox. I am on a mac with the latest versions of chrome and firefox and my OS. Is there a solution so I can actually draw with the pen point instead of a point in blank space?

I'm not sure what you mean.  You've posted your question in the global Canvas Community website.  Canvas is a Learning Management System (LMS) where schools (ranging from K-12 to higher ed...and even some other businesses) house their courses for students to take online.  This Community site is a place to ask questions about Canvas, submit feature requests/ideas, review written and video tutorials about Canvas, join groups, and much more.

If you have a question about Canvas, we can try and answer that for you.  But, I'm not sure what you mean by "free draw icon", "bounding box", and "pen icon" ... as these aren't things I'm familiar with inside of Canvas.

I selected the Canvas LMS for posting so I am not sure how it went broader. The Canvas LMS has a rich content editor which is accessible in Speed Grader mode. That editor has a free drawing option which generates a pen icon on the screen for creating lines or writing, However, if you place the pen point on the screen, the line does not start at the location of the pen point in the lower left, it starts at the upper left of the box that would be created if you drew a rectangle around the icon (the bounding box). This makes it difficult (for me anyway) to clearly draw lines around text and arrows connecting text etc. 

it happens on both the mouse and the drawing pen that I have in two browsers so it seems to be that Canvas is interepreting the location of the line as the top of the box and not the bottom.

Hi @rressler,

I have a Mac as well (14" MacBook Pro 2022), but I don't seem to experience the same issues you're having when drawing in SpeedGrader with the touchpad.  You mention a pen, which to my knowledge Mac computers don't support, unless sidecar'd or something similar from an iPad.  Can you tell us any more about your setup?  It seems like there may be something unique going on that could be causing your issues, so any additional details you could give us may be very useful.
