how do i turn canvas into dark mode instead of light mode?

Canvas does not have a "dark mode" when you are on a computer.  This is a very popular request, though.  Please take a look at this Idea that has been submitted:

I'd encourage you to follow each of these so that you can stay updated as to if/when something like this would be implemented within Canvas.

So essentially this has been a complaint since at least 2018 and it hasn't been addressed yet...

If you take a look at the two links that I provided, you'll see that the Idea and Theme have been labeled as "Identified".  A further explanation of this label can be found at:

Look under the heading, "What are the Theme Stages?".

Also, as noted in the first link I provided, although there hasn't been an implementation as of yet for desktop/laptop users, dark mode is available in the Canvas Student, Canvas Teacher, and Canvas Parent apps you can download to your phone/tablet.

I know this might not be the response you're looking for...but I hope it helps to clarify things for you at this time.

I hope they add this soon because I'm tired of my retina getting burned when I click on Canvas and it illuminates my room with the power of a hundred suns.

Yes it does because mine is stuck on dark mode and I don't know how to fix it.
