is there a way to prevent course archiving?

hi all, my colleagues and I have created a canvas course for our students and the course keeps getting archived. we want it to remain active. is there a way to prevent archiving? thanks!

I'm not sure what you mean by "the course keeps getting archived".  Could you please explain this a bit more?  This doesn't sound like normal Canvas behavior.

Hi Chris, thanks for responding here! Our courses seem to be automatically archived after 18 months (penn state u policy maybe?). My colleagues and I would like to keep a pride communications canvas course open for the foreseeable future but it gets archived by our university and we'd love to know if there is a way we can prevent this. Thanks for any help!

Hi @bre122,

I would definitely suggest that you reach out to the Canvas team at PSU about this.  I have been in some discussiuon groups around course archiving with them, but I don't know all of the exact rules/proceses/procedures they put in place and whether the archiving applies to all of their Canvas sites or perhaps there are certain subaccounts that are  exempt from the process that your course could be moved in to (if it qualifies).  All of the archiving things are basically institituion policy and nothing Canvas itself does, so the local team as PSU will be the authority on this one.
