Hello, I was looking at the Improved Navigation update for New Quizzes, which is a welcome one for us. I noticed, however, that this update seems to only be available for instructors and those who have course editing permissions; it is not available for students. Was this intentional?
I unfortunately have to say that I'm a bit confused and disappointed by some of the decisions around the Enhanced Moderation Tools and Interface Updates to New Quizzes...
Right now (before this update goes to production), we have something called Accommodations, which affects all quizzes (including not the current one), but doesn't change any in-progress attempts. We also have Moderate, which only affects the current quiz, and any in-progress attempts of it. The functionality is similar, but not identical, and the different naming really helps to explain the differences to faculty and made them obvious.
After the change, Accommodations will be able to affect in-progress attempts, which is good. The bad part,s in my opinion, are the renaming and rewording of some areas. Changing "Moderate" to "In Progress Accommodation" doesn't make sense to me, as the settings here apply to future attempts of the current quiz too... In the now "Student Accommodation" area, the checkbox wording, "Apply these changes to the current quiz and attempts as well" is also somewhat confusing... If that is not checked, do the settings not apply to the quiz at all? I don't think that's the intended meaning. It should be more like "apply to in-progress attempts" if I'm understanding the change.
I really hope someone can look at these changes before this goes to production. Wording is super important, and most of the wording changes here seem unclear. We're about to disable classic quiz creation in a couple weeks, so I appreciate new functionality coming to New Quizzes, but we need precise and non-duplicative wording here.
