Canvas Deploy Notes (2024-05-08)

Canvas deploys contain code changes that are intended to fix bugs, improve performance, and prepare for new features. These deploys take place every two weeks and can be tested in the beta environment before the production deploy date indicated in the title of this document. Institutions are responsible for conducting thorough evaluations of their custom CSS/JS with each release and deploy to assess potential impacts.

In the Gradebook, the Message Students Who feature is enhanced to allow instructors to message students who have submitted an assignment. Options include messaging all students who have submitted, students with graded submissions, and students with ungraded submissions.

These updates help instructors provide positive reinforcement to students who have submitted their work and streamline the process of excluding excused students from messages about missing assignments, making the workflow quicker and more efficient.

In the For Students Who drop-down menu, select the Have Submitted option [1]. Then, instructors have the option to message all students with submissions [2], students with graded submissions [3], and students with ungraded submissions [4].
