I'm fairly new to Canvas and have not yet used the portfolio feature though I've read about it and I think I have a basic understanding of it. I'm wondering about the following:
1) Is it possible to create content (like an audio or video recording, or type in a reflection) directly in the portfolio or does all content have to come from courses?
2) Does the portfolio feature allow a student to add video, sound, and image files?
Thank you!

Did you get any good solution, I think I am facing similar kind of issue.
@Peter69 ...
Might need to wait a little bit for some responses...as @aeasterling's question has only been posted for about a day.
Hello @aeasterling
I understand that you have some questions about the Eportfolio that can be used in canvas.
It is possible to create pages in your Eportfolio and upload images and files to it. HERE is a guide that goes over how to do that.
One limitation with the Eportfolio is that you cannot add/record videos and sounds with the Rich Content Editor like you normally can in Canvas. However, you do have the ability to embed content such as videos that are hosted through third party services like youtube or Vimeo. If you have some videos that are hosted outside of Canvas, you copy the Embed code, and paste it into the page you create in your Eportfolio. To do this, you would simply get the embed code and edit your page, followed by selecting Insert and embed option and pasting it into the embed box.
HERE is the Canvas guides on using Eportfolios.
Hopefully this helps!
