I have students submit videos as assignment submissions through Studio. If I suspect they have used AI to write their script, I like to download the transcript and feed it into an AI detector. I also sometimes like to read along while they are speaking. The 'download transcript' feature has disappeared from my students' submissions. Anyone know why? Is this something the students can change?

Hi there @lroe ,
Thanks for asking on the Instructure Community!
The reason the 'download transcript' button is disabled is because your student's videos do not have captioning. This is in fact something the students have full control over, and if they'd like to remove / add captioning to their videos, they can.
Is this something you're experiencing with all of your student's videos all of a sudden, or only some?
I hope this helps!

This was always something I had access to, and then all of a sudden, didn't. It was a recent change.
Now, it seems to have corrected itself. I can now see the transcript option.
Weird.
EDIT: I was looking at the wrong course. This has not corrected itself.
Thanks!
Lori
This could've also been because the video captions were still processing. Sometimes it can take longer than intended due to various reasons, and not just because your students disabled the option.
Happy to help!

Oh, interesting. It's been two weeks since they submitted their videos. How long should that take? And, if the system is slow when they submit, will the captions eventually be generated when the system picks back up?
Or, is there a way to generate captions on the admin side?
By the way, I am having issues with Studio in the Discussions, not necessarily in the Assignments area. I have generated comments on assignments before, but I do not see an option in the Discussions area.
