Submit Two Studio Videos for One Assignment

I have an assignment that requires me to submit two video clips via Studio for one assignment.  The professor stated the submission must be done through Studio vs. "Uploading" two video files.  Please advise.  I have included a screenshot of the submission options I have, and repeat, was told to use Studio.  However, when Studio opens, I am not given the opportunity to embed more than one video file.  Thank you.

Hi @ShannonDeaton ...

I replied to you over on this other thread, Solved: Re: Uploading and submitting 2 videos in one assig... - Instructure Community - 599217.  But, I wanted to double-check to make sure you saw these options after you clicked on the "Studio" button when you were attempting to submit your assignment to your insturctor:

The first two options under "Create" allow you to record video online (including screen captures), and the last option of "Add Media" allows you to either upload a video you created offline or add a video link from YouTube / Vimeo.

As for submitting multiple videos, I'm not sure you can submit more than one Studio video at a time.  You may need to fully submit the first video to your instructor, then submit the second video as a separate submission.  Your instructor would have the ability to see both submissions...as they are date and time stamped.  And, since it looks like your school has the "Assignment Enhancements" option turned on (based on the screenshot you shared), you *should* also be able to see your past submissions as well.  Check out the screenshot in the section "View Assignment with Limited Attempts" where there is a drop-down list for "Attempt 1".  This is where you can select the different submission attempts you've made to your instructor.   How do I view an assignment in a course using Assi... - Instructure Community - 416676

I hope this will help in some way.  Good luck!

@ShannonDeaton,

It is my understanding that the only way a student can make 1 submission that contains 2 different Canvas Studio videos is if the instructor creates an online assignment and sets it to allow "Text Entry" as a submission type.

You might think that would not make sense but when "Text Entry" is a submission type, the student has the option to submit text using what Canvas calls the "Rich Content Editor". Please see the two links below for information about the "Rich Content Editor" / RCE.

  1. What is the Rich Content Editor (RCE)? - Instructure Community - 12
  2. Canvas Basics Guide -- Rich Content Editor (RCE) -- Instructure Community

For the RCE, students can enter text, documents, pictures, regular Canvas videos (if allowed by Canvas LMS admins), (you guessed it) Canvas Studio videos, and a mix of all of them. Please see How do I submit Canvas Studio media as a Text Entry assignment in Canvas as a student? - Instructure....

If "Text Entry" had been an allowed submission type for this assignment a student could submit similar to what I describe below:

  1. enter text something like "This is my first video."
  2. start a new paragraph
  3. add the first Canvas Studio video
  4. start a new paragraph and leave it blank
  5. start a new paragraph
  6. enter text something like "This is my second video."
  7. start a new paragraph
  8. add the second Canvas Studio video
  9. click on the "Submit Assignment" button

I know this is different than how your instructor set it up but technically it is possible as long as the instructor sets up the assignment as I described.
