After watching the Course Pacing feature video, my understanding is that Canvas will auto-compress the assignment due dates if a student enrolls at a time where there are fewer days to complete the course based off the end date than allowed for in the course pacing settings. For example, if the course pacing allows for 100 days to complete all assignments, but as student enrolls in the course with only 50 days remaining, the due dates will be adjusted to fit within that time frame. If this is true, I'm curious how Canvas calculates the new due dates? Is it dynamic taking into account the # of days between assignments, or is it a more static calculation (i.e., Canvas reduces each assignment due date by X # of days)?

I'm curious about this same question but it doesn't seem as though the "solution" includes an answer at all.
@christopher_ma5 Did you ever get a response?
@christopher_ma5 This is a great question! Due date compression is dynamic, taking into account the number of days set for each assignment and using them more as a weight. For example, an assignment with 10 days and one with 3 days might become 5 and 1 or 2 depending on how the rounding and weekends land.
