Need to assign to individual students when using course pacing

I want to have an alternate assignment using complete one module requirement.

In this case, one of the assignments only gets assigned to specific students. We were assigning that to individual students as needed in order to keep it hidden from students for whom it is not relevant. 

Also, mastery paths are not an option for this course. 

Will there be an option to change Assign To (people not date) at some point since that is tied to due date (which pacing takes over)?

@david_griffith We understand this is a big pain point for institutions looking to implement Course Pacing. We are planning to make it work with Assign To and Mastery Paths and I've been looking into this with our product designer, but I can't commit to a timeline for development yet.
