Discussion Redesign - Settings for Reply Options

In the latest version of Canvas Discussions Redesign, there's a single checkbox option for allowing students to edit or delete their own discussion replies. However, this presents a limitation as instructors might want more nuanced control over student actions.

I propose having separate checkboxes for editing and deleting discussion replies, offering instructors the flexibility to choose whether students can: 

✅ Edit but not delete their own discussion replies. 

✅ Delete but not edit their own replies.

Providing both options would allow instructors to accommodate a wider range of instructional preferences and give them more flexibility and control over student interactions in discussions.

Better yet: separate check boxes for 

• allow students to edit their posts
• allow students to delete their posts

Instructors can then check one or the other or BOTH or neither. We need an option to allow BOTH actions.

The ability to either edit and/or delete replies should also be the individual discussion level and not for the entire course. When we transitioned from a prior LMS (which no longer exists) to Canvas in 2018, this is one of the few things that our instructors have missed.

Having the option at the discussion level allows an instructor to set their "introduce yourself" discussions to allow editing/deleting but do not allow it for regular discussions through the rest of the course.
