Turn off threads in Discussion Redesign

I am trying to get acquainted with the Discussions Redesign since it will be enforced this summer. On the first post I made, I do not see the option to turn off threaded replies. I can see a use case where I would want students to post and be able to see other people's posts but not have a need for replies. It is also helpful when teaching younger students to use discussion boards, let them learn to make posts first and then how to appropriately reply. 

Did I miss this option somewhere? Can this please get added to the redesign?

Since threaded replies is an OPTION (in course settings), you can still use it or not as you like.

If you are not requiring replies, it won't matter if you use threaded or not. 

I may have misunderstood your post here because it seems you may have left a few words out. Reread your post (proof read) and clarify your question if I got it wrong.

Thank you for your response. I looked under Course Settings (more options) and Feature Options and I do not see the option for threaded replies. Can you direct me to where that option is?

I would also like the option per discussion, not as a course-level setting.

I stand corrected. The option to "allow threaded replies" is NOT in course settings. But it DOES appear in "options" when you edit any given discussion:

Are you using Discussions Resdesign? In my course, I have the redesign enabled and I do NOT have that option which was the intent of my original post. The images from the Canvas guide also to not show that option.

oops, looks like you are RIGHT! My screenshot is for the OLD style discussion. I do have the Redesign disabled. One reason is that I prefer threaded replies and Discussion Redesign does not provide for that. 

Are you able to disable the Redesign or is your institution forcing you to use it?

I wonder if Canvas would be able to ADD "threaded" as an option for the Redesign?

Exactly, we allow instructors to turn it on if they want to use it. I turned it on because I heard the switch would be enforced this summer. I was disappointed to find that this key feature is not available. I certainly do hope they will add it to the redesign!

Absolutely agree that we need the threaded discussion option! What are the chances of this happening by July?

However, I am not using Discussion Redesign (have it disabled) so my screenshot is what it looks like for the old style of discussion. Not sure if it is different for Redesign. Let me know if it is different for you.

@SamGarza1 The solution marked here is NOT a solution as the user did not have the Discussions Redesign enabled.
