GET TO KNOW US, EARN A BADGE! |
The success of a Broadway musical isn't solely dependent on those performers on stage, but the magicians behind-the-scenes, too. In other words, your Canvas Community Team is the backstage crew who make your community spectacular-spectacular. If you see them wandering around InstructureCon signing autographs chatting up the Canvas Community, be sure to say hello and get to know them. They may not sing and dance, but when it comes to getting your best performance, they certainly can help you set the stage. |

Deactivated user, I'm glad you didn't take offense to my jumping off the cart. I really was appreciative of the ride, but the opportunity for jive points and a badge was too good to pass up. Plus the resulting walking I'm sure was good for me.
Is it too late to join the party?! Deactivated user was the 1st Instructure employee I met when I was hired WAY back in 2014... and he continues to be a rockstar! Sorry for the fuzzy image, I was shaking with excitement~
Had a great time meeting Deactivated user at game night! He was kind enough to come over to our table and show us how to play Wits and Wagers, and made it an absolute blast for everyone! Thanks for making our final evening such a great experience!
I had a great conversation with Deactivated user about the production of the release notes videos, the new community and InstructureCon. You can listen to the conversation here: Episode 0.2 by The Canvas Podcast | Free Listening on SoundCloud
I got to sit in on this impromptu conversation and was absolutely amazed at all of the work that Deactivated user and others put in to create those 5-6 minutes production release videos! It gave me a new found appreciation for their hard work in even the "small" details.
Love it! I am a huge release notes nerd (yes, apparently that is a thing), and I think Deactivated uservideos are great. I like that conversational style he mentions. And yes, I do think putting the effort into making them high quality is worth it.
We had a conversation about how much time and effort to sink into the videos early on and decided that the potential audience was great enough to justify the cost and if we do a good job, hopefully that will make it easier for people who transmit this information to folks on their own campuses.
(a bit late but I want my badge ) I also met Deactivated user at game night. He was the only Community Manager I met during InstCon but I imagine his friendliness and helpful attitude reflect the whole team's. My question was as to whether he knew the rules for most of the games in the room, since he offered to help us figure out a game... Turns out he doesn't, but really is just that helpful!
I wish the rest of my team could have been there at GAME NIGHT (instcon15) but alas, they were not able to be there. I cannot assure you that "you weren't missing out on anything" by not meeting the rest of them. On the contrary! Not only are they insanely helpful and excessively friendly, but @Renee_Carney , @scottdennis , and @biray are some of the finest people you will ever meet. Stay engaged in this Canvas Community and you'll have the pleasure of meeting and engaging with them. You'll see I'm not bluffing 😉 And if the stars align you'll be able to meet them all, in person, next year!
If you have hosted a gathering of many friends and acquaintances at your home or elsewhere, you have some insight into what it is like to help host Instcon. There are so many people to meet (nor not meet) and so many people that you interact with throughout the year, online, that you might only get a few fleeting moments with in a hallway conversation at the conference - similar to those friends you invite over but then never get a chance to talk with because you are running around being the host. I hope I get to meet you next year @marthazumack !
Playing Wits and Wagers with your table was a highlight of my night! I felt like I needed to get out and assist on other tables but it was fun to see most of your table still there, playing a few more rounds! Let's do it again 😉
I just wanted to join in on the "helpful" love, here.
You're welcome. Points for all!
Better late then never? Deactivated user
:smileylaugh:
Haha, Amber!
@biray , @scottdennis , @Renee_Carney - we should make a "Better Late Than Never" badge! :smileylaugh:
