Oregon State University needed to allow non-institutional users to access Canvas for non-credit/community education courses. Hosting guest accounts was deemed too cumbersome, so we deployed a gateway service to provide third-party authentication via social logins (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). Presenter will look at how Instructure's JIT provisioning may be used in the future.

Bit of necromancy here, but if the various authentication providers returned the user's personal email address as opposed to the obscure ID that is specific to each provider, a person could probably use whatever social login returned that same email address.

Was that ever considered or even possible?
