InstructureCon participants come from all over the world—and from all corners of education. Some of us are admins, some are building leaders, some are in the classroom every day. We all bring different passions, experiences, and areas of expertise to the table.

But there’s one thing we all have in common:
We’re headed to Spokane to connect, collaborate, and uncover new learning adventures.

As you gear up for this year’s legendary journey into the heart of the Pacific Northwest, I’ve got two questions for you:

Hello! My professional goals for attending Instructurecon 2025 include:

1. Gain actionable insights into the Canvas product roadmap to align our strategies with upcoming developments.
2. Expand my knowledge of the new Canvas Portfolio feature and explore its potential to enhance student artifact showcasing and support more effective outcomes evaluation.
3. Engage with Canvas staff to share my experiences and feedback, especially hoping to connect with product managers for meaningful conversations.
4. Network with peers to exchange ideas, discover innovative tools and methods, and share our work with Canvas Data and the Canvas API.
5. Build new connections and hopefully make a few new friends along the way!

By the way, I had the opportunity to present at last year’s conference where I discussed the use of SpeedGrader screen recordings to provide students with personalized feedback. The approach has been very successful, and below I am sharing a few comments from students that highlight its impact:

"The use of screen capture greatly enhanced the learning experience in this course. Being able to visually follow along with the instructor’s guidance, explanations, and feedback as he graded my assignment submission helped clarify particular assignments, although simple yet complex reinforced some key concepts. This method was especially effective in demonstrating assignment expectations and grading rationale."

"I really like that the instructor provided assignment feedback in a quick screen recording and explaining every detail, as a visual learner, that was very useful. He is a great professor."

"One of the most effective aspects of this course was the instructor’s use of screen capture recordings to provide assignment feedback. By walking through the grading process in real time, the instructor not only explained the evaluation criteria but also highlighted areas where I performed well and where improvements were needed. This method offered clear, actionable input, especially when pointing out sections that may have been overlooked or misunderstood. It created a more transparent and educational feedback loop, allowing me to better understand expectations and learn directly from my own work."
