Migrate from Old Quiz Question Bank to New Quiz Item Bank

Hello.

I used this process recently with a teacher to create an old quiz using all of the question banks questions, then migrating to a new quiz, so that we could create an item bank for new quizzes. This teacher had 18 or so question banks.

If this teacher were to delete the old quizzes that were used to populate the new quizzes, thus item banks, would it have any impact on the resulting new item banks?

My gut tells me no, but inquiring minds...

Hi @CurtisGreeley,

Once the migration process is complete, you should be able to delete the original classic quiz question banks without affecting the new quiz item banks.  I'd encourage you to check over the item banks before doing that to make sure all of the content in them looks good, just in case there was a glitch in the migration.

Hi. Let me explain this in steps and then ask my question. 

1) We created a quiz in a master course two years ago. 

2) We copied the master course to create a new master course. We opted for old quizzes to migrate to new quizzes when we made the copy. 

3) We then imported the new quiz into our individual courses from the new master. 

4) Now, we want to edit an answer on item bank question. We can't edit the item banks in the individual courses or the new master. We can only edit them in the (original) old master course. Actually, we could edit a multiple choice question, but we need to edit a fill in the blank. We didn't see this option. When we click on the text, nothing happens. 

How do we get edits from the old master to the individual course? Students have already taken the quiz, so we don't want to ruin anything. 

Or, even better, how do we edit the item banks in the new individual course? Is this possible? 

I am posting this here because it seems like in my situation, it would be a bad idea to delete the original classic quiz since I need to edit a question in an item bank and can't figure out how to do that in the current course without revisiting the original (classic) quiz in the original master course.
