Hello,
We appreciate that students are now able to get feedback for their responses to exams and quizzes, and that this can be adjusted to only allow them to view the information once.
However - it seems to us that the way this feature is currently set up it only manages the answers. Based on what I have seen, if the "show questions" feature is enabled, the questions remain visible to the students, even if they can't see their response or the correct answer. This is very disturbing and a big concern when it comes to security of the exam (that is, students could go back in and take screenshots of all of the questions if the "show questions" option is allowed).
Currently, we are requiring students to remain in the testing room until everyone is done with an exam and then turning off the "show questions" option in New Quizzes. This is allows the students to review their test responses and thus learn from the errors, but maintains the security of the exams as well - however, it is far from ideal.
It would be much better if students could view the questions and answers only once and then have everything (questions, answers, correct answers) close.
Thank you.
Christina

Thank you @cgcamillo for posting this question and to the others here for the excellent discussion (especially @CindyEverett). Given that it's not on the New Quizzes product roadmap, the best option is to suggest an idea. This is done via the Canvas Ideas page here in the Community.
Creating an idea does not provide an immediate solution to the problem you described, though it is a solution. I’m going to mark it as such and hope that our colleagues who have a similar challenge will find the best way to contribute. If you decide to create an idea, please link it here.
I agree with @cgcamillo ! This is a concern of our faculty. What would be better is to have an option that states no results display except within this date range. That is what our faculty want.
The options are there already. You may want to check with you admins
@SK15 - we do have these options, but what it looks like (when using the Student View and our Instructional Design folks felt that I was understanding this correctly) is that if you select Show Questions, and then Show Student Responses... etc. - even if you select "Only after their last attempt" - the students only see their responses and answers once... but the questions remain visible. There isn't an option to only show BOTH questions and answers ONCE. This is a concern because the availability of the questions could mean a student could go back into the assessment and take screen shots, etc.
Now, if somehow what I see with my Student View is incorrect, then great... but I did ask my Instructional Design folks about this and they seemed to think I was correct.
Our teachers want the quiz questions, answers, points and feedback to be hidden to students when they use Manual Posting. They reveal all after grading is complete and posted. We'd like to see quiz settings make that automatic by date; right now it involves manual quiz settings editing because the Hide Results by dates don't cover everything we want hidden.
When students view the submission, or submission details through the gradebook, if results are hidden by show-on date students still see feedback in addition to questions and answers. Also if you don't hide points awarded, then students know which questions they got right because it has points.
Since there are no dates for Feedback, Points Possible or Points awarded, if you don't hide them they are available at all times. If you temporarily hide them it's necessary to edit the settings to unhide them.
It seems like it would be easier to not bother to enter the dates, just have all results hidden and then manually turn that off when grading is done. It's more work to enter dates. There's no way to prohibit students from seeing all quiz details without having to edit quiz settings to unhide after posting grades, whatever you do.
YES! I am an instructor and I want the quiz questions, answers, points and feedback to be hidden until the quiz has closed. I would also like to see quiz settings that make this automatic by date; meaning I can set a time window in which the students can see the quiz questions, their answers, points and feedback. Once this date is passed I do not want students to be able to have any access to the quiz; in other words I do not want them to see the questions, answers, points awarded and feedback. The only item visible to the students at this point should be their score on the quiz.
As an instructor, to manually have to adjust quiz settings to "unhide" and then "hide results" for each quiz and in all of my sections will be extremely tedious.
Yes, I am also experiencing the same problem. No matter what settings I choose, the QUESTIONS are visible to the students after the quiz closes. This is a huge concern! In order to maintain the integrity of the quiz for future classes, I will have to change all of the questions each semester.
