With the new quizzes, there is not an option to code a quiz as a "practice quiz" like there was in the old quizzes instance. I have teachers, myself included, who used practice quizzes for certain courses. Is there not a way to ensure that when these are migrated over that it keeps that denotation? We are having to migrate them all, delete the old quiz, make a new assignment group, go into each quiz and click do not count, and then move all of the quizzes on the assignment page over to the newly created group. Does anyone know of a method that would make this more efficient?
I read this on another thread. This may help what you are describing. https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Question-Forum/Move-quiz-to-practice-quizzes/m-p/521531#M1...
Unfortunately, the drop-down for the type of quiz has gone away with new quizzes. The assignment type is the only way to put them as a practice quiz. That means that a new assignment group has to be created and all of those quizzes have to be moved to the new assignment type. I did it all, but it took me a couple of hours to migrate them all, and then reassign them to another group. I was hoping there was a more realistic way to do this for teachers.
Can you elaborate on what new assignment group you are moving the (migrated) practice quizzes to? If the new assignment group has a weight of 0%, then just dragging and dropping the quizzes into the group will make them not count toward the final grade. This does mean the notation "This assignment does not count toward the final grade." won't appear in the Gradebook, and this won't work if grades are not weighted, so only a partial solution at best.
