From what I have gathered, New Quizzes does not allow you to submit a quiz early when One Question at a Time is enabled and Allow Backtracking is disabled. Instead, you must review every question individually until you either reach the end of the quiz or wait for the timer to run out. Some students or instructors testing their quizzes would like the ability to submit them early without reaching the end of their quiz. Can a feature be added to New Quizzes with One Question at a Time enabled, allowing early submissions?
As a workaround in the meantime, could you advise your students to use the Quiz navigation bar on the left of the New Quizzes screen to jump to the last question where "Submit" is displayed if they don't want/need to respond to all the questions? (Note this navigation bar does not get displayed in Teacher preview in the Build interface but is shown to Students (including the 'Student View' test student these days) - although it can be trickier to get to if they are using small screen devices.
Hello Kate, thank you for your suggestion. I forgot to mention that this issue only occurs when Allow Backtracking is disabled (I have now edited my post after realizing it). With this setting disabled, the navigation bar on the left-hand side disappears, so you are left with no option other than clicking Next through every question until you reach the end.
Hi Matteo. Thanks for the clarification. That context does change things and I can see why the lack of a persistent Submit button would cause frustration and agree it would be a helpful option in the situation you describe. I also think it would be best if it was an optional setting that could be activated as part of the settings for a specific quiz. For instance in most of the use-cases at our institution, we wouldn't want students to have the Submit button available to them without them seeing all the questions - but equally I'm only aware of a handful of assessments here that prevent back-tracking so students usually have the full navigation options available to them and can jump to the end if they want to submit before the time limit expires.
