Why is Canvas flooding one teacher’s inbox with quiz attempts?

Hi,
we’re experiencing an issue in a course where one teacher receives an overwhelming number of email notifications every time students take a voluntary practice quiz (New Quizzes). This is cluttering his inbox and is both unnecessary and frustrating, since the quiz is not mandatory and is not graded.

What’s strange is that no other teachers in the course are experiencing the same issue, and the quiz settings appear to be identical to those in other courses where teachers do not receive email notifications.

Why might this particular teacher be receiving these notifications?

Are there any Canvas settings that can turn off this type of notification?

Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution?

My guess is that it has to do with how this instructor has set their notifications in Canvas. I receive notifications for all the attempts my students complete on New Quizzes, but they’re grouped into a single email sent at the end of the day. In my notification settings, under All Submissions, I’ve selected daily summary instead of notify immediately. I’ve also opted out of Push Notifications for submissions (though I keep them enabled for other things like submission comments).

I’d recommend having the instructor check their notification settings to see if they’re set up similarly. I hope this helps!
