converting item banks to question banks

I'm not happy with the functionality of the new quizzes in Canvas and would like to go back to using classic quizzes. I've unfortunately already created a number of item banks. I've found documentation for migrating question banks for classic quizzes to item banks for the new quizzes, but is there a way to go backwards?

Thank you @TaiMelcher for exploring New Quizzes and for sharing your experience. A New Quiz can be exported, and the export can then be imported into a Canvas course and converted to a Classic Quiz if the "import as New Quizzes" is not selected:

Import as New Quizzes is not selected.

I did a test with a New Quiz with one FIB question and it works, but the question reference changed to a string of characters:

New Quiz:
New Quiz FIB question

Re-imported as Classic Quiz:
Imported FIB question in Classic Quiz

Note that from a student's perspective the question works; it's from our perspective that the string of characters appears. I did not explore other question types.

I do not understand why item banks and question banks are not interchangable. I have a course that I am trying to (unfortuantely) convert the item bank to a question bank with 30 item banks. TIME CONSUMING and ridiculous!  There should be a cross over so that no matter what bank you are using you can use them in both formats.  I am just kicking myself for trying out the new format because it means so much wasted time. The old formatted quizzes allow you to have a bank of 10 questions but only ask a random set of 5. You can't do that with the new format, which is utterly ridiculous.  This is the format I want to utilize for my quizzes. Help me not have to spend my summer wasting time because no programmer thought to ask what we liked about quizzes!

I found New Quizzes Migration - Question Banks to Item Ban... - Instructure Community - 580551 (canvaslms.co..., but I can't create classic quizzes and I only have the Question Banks from a Moodle import. Is there other documentation?

Thanks for your question, @CraigJ . I know very little about Moodle, but if it can create QTI files then those can be dropped directly into a New Quiz or an Item Bank:
