I'm having a serious issue where Powerschool and Canvas have stopped talking with each other. I've submitted a support ticket to the SIS Team, but they are so swamped with tickets, I thought I would try finding a solution in the community.
Starting on August 14, teachers began reporting that they were no longer able to sync their PowerTeacher Pro grade book grading categories with Canvas. Those who already had the categories synced reported that they could no longer sync grades with the SIS. Upon investigating, I discovered the even the SIS import had stopped working.
I've verified that two plugins related to Canvas/Instructure are installed and enabled in Powerschool; Canvas-PowerSchool-API Plugin v 1.5.50 and Instructure OneRoster API Plugin v1.1. Both plugins are setup and are showing both a Client ID and Secret.
I don't know if it will help, but I'm also attaching the error details of the most recent nightly roster sync.
Any advice on what might be causing this?

@tlwitt Hey! I can't tell from the snippet where the issue may lie -- maybe someone else can chime in!
In the meantime, since this is affecting your whole district, I would let your Customer Success Manager know and give them the ticket number. They will be able to help with tracking the ticket and getting the right people to help with the issue. In addition, if possible, place a ticket with PowerSchool support and add the PS ticket number to your Canvas ticket.
Thank you. I did reach out to them and they were able to get a response out of the SIS team.
Hi @tlwitt,
I am not a PowerSchool user or expert at all, but I do know a bit about APIs through Canvas... I took a look at the log you provided, and from my read of it, the issue seems to be entirely on the PowerSchool side trying to retrieve some sort of list from the URL "https://sis.powerschool.com/api/ims/oneroster/v1p1/schools?limit=1000". Have you opened a ticket with PowerSchool on this issue in addition to Instructure? In my opinion, they are likely the ones who will need to look into this and fix something on their end, rather than Instructure.
Again, I could be completely wrong, and anyone else who comes along and sees this is free to correct me. I just wanted to make sure you're also in contact with PowerSchool and not just waiting for an Instructure reply.

Yes, it was a Powerschool issue.
Wondering if you may have installed the Apple School Manager / Claris OneRoster plugin recently? I installed this PowerSchool plugin yesterday as per Apple's instructions. I got an email just now from users telling me that their Grade passback between Canvas and PowerSchool is now failing. Error is permission denied. Might not be related, but interesting that both integrations use OneRoster.
No, I had not installed ASM/Claris One, but thank you for chiming in.
This turned out (for me) to not be related to the ASM/Claris plug-in.
