Our institution wants the transcript grade kept separate from the outcome ranking based on their different uses and reporting mechanisms. The separate grade books work exactly as needed.

Only the last two weeks worth of assignments show . . .I didn't realize I had arrows to see past assignments as the arrow is at the bottom, off my screen unless I scroll. Suggestion is to put the arrows at the top. Icons to represent submission types (assignment, discussion, quiz) is nice. If I select missing assignments, and select a specific assignment, and message students, the subject line does not auto- generate the name of the assignment (auto-generation happens in gradebook when I message students show haven't submitted.) Suggestion: have consistency across Canvas tools. Students who withdrew/dropped/were deleted from Canvas from the class are still showing up in the message for those who are a missing assignments. Suggestion: have students listed in messages match students in People. Selecting Display Shapes didn't change the look of the screen.

This is NOT helpful. If our faculty inadvertently select this box we do NOT get the data we need for accreditation reports. I would like the ability to control this at the admin level. I do understand not needing outcomes on practice assignments but accreditation weighs much more heavily than practice.

If a professor marks Don't post Outcomes results to Learning Mastery Gradebook will the outcomes ranked still show up in Canvas data and specifically on the Outcomes Report?

Grading Icon Update - I prefer to see the different Icons so I can see at a glance if I am grading a document, textbox, quiz, or discussion board. Excess Rubric Criterion Points - I am ok with professors getting to choose excess points on criterion but NOT on outcomes set at the university level. This completely goes against standards with rating and accuracy in reporting and screws up analytics.

Kelley In most cases I agree 100% with you, allowing students to work as needed is part of personalized learning. In the case, I share, we have a federal regulation which requires proof of 'seat' time. Too bad the government doesn't catch up to learner-centered thinking. Jen

Chris, I have that same concern. On our campus, our IT log you out after 2 hours 'lack of interaction'. However, that does not answer the question of how 'active' a student was during the time they were logged in. You can log in and then go watch a movie. The FAA requires 'seat time' to be logged for ground courses and at the moment this is my best option but I am open to what others have done. I am sure I am not the first school dealing with FAA regulations. On a side note, this question for an online class that is not asked of a face to face class cracks me up. We assume because students are in their seats that they are active when in reality they could be half asleep or playing on their phones.

In modules, you can edit the settings to add specific pre-requisites or other requirements. We are requesting to add a time element as a requirement. For example, FAA has a 'seat time' requirement. This is measured in a face to face class with time spent in class. In an online class, we could measure this by time spent in a module. Therefore, is it possible to add a time requirement where professors could choose the amount of time needing to be spent in a module before progressing to the next module?
If yes, could the time spent in modules actually be broken out by time spent on individual pages? For example, in Page Views we can see the date and time a student landed on a page, can we see the time spent on the page.

Canvas please explain to me why the new (bottom) icons are better than the previous (top) icons. My blind student's accessibility hasn't changed but my vision impaired and older vision has drastically been limited with this icon change. The closeness in color, the pencil outline instead of being filled in, and the closeness in design in icons is making it virtually impossible for some instructors to see the difference. I had one professor ask me the difference in the new icons and I said unpublished is gray, green is published and they can't see the color difference and they are not color blind. I also explained the / for unpublished and the up arrow for published and their response was 'they are both lines".

Chris I am our new Canvas Admin and I haven't made any changes but could if it would help my faculty. My screenshot shows 2 blues but they are hardly distinguishable. What field inside the custom theme editor would I look at to adjust the colors? Thanks for any tips.

Maybe I missed reading it in the Production Notes but when did the colors change on the admin page? Previously I could tell a published course (green) from an unpublished course (gray) now both are blue. I thought Canvas was supposed to be all about Contrast to aid accessibility. And don't tell me to look at the think pencil icon of the cloud at the end to tell the difference . . .I have one professor/dpt chair (I don't know the resolution on their computer) but these icons don't even appear for them.
