I appreciate the variety of options being offered but teachers need comments to sync to their SIS gradebooks so while many of these are great ways to post comments on assignments there really isn't a great way to get those repetitive comments into the gradebook. Speedgrader is the only option and it is cumbersome.

We are having similar issues. I have an entire department who refuses to use Canvas because they can not use a standards based grading scale. I have several others who would like the option as well. Please add more grading scales!

This is such a basic and simple feature, available in any email platform. We are often harassed for lack of response. Auto response was a lifesaver in email and the lack of it is a hinderance to getting teachers to switch over to Canvas email.

Math and advanced science teachers really do need an effective way to type their math questions. Most of us have added MathType to our suite in an effort to help these teachers. These are often the teachers most resistant to using Canvas instead of traditional paper and this just strengthens the argument. Please add this or an effective math typing application for advanced math.

The annotation tool has several issues, especially for special education students.
Kami allows students to use speak to text when annotating. It would be helpful of Canvas would allow this feature.

This is one of the biggest issues in my district. We accept so much late work it is tedious and time consuming to have to go to another screen and complete the adjustment in 3-4 clicks by 150 students .

I would agree that Colour coding would be extremely beneficial. I currently use symbols but when we sync to the gradebook symbols transfer as ?????? and then the gradebook is a mess and must be modified by hand.
Colours could be limited, the box could have coloured borders etc. I work with a number of visually impaired students and there are ways to add colour for the 28 students per class period and still meet the visual needs of the 2-3 students in each class who have an impairment.
"In addition, ADA Compliance requires that there be contrast between backgrounds and the text of a page, so what colors are available in which combinations is fairly limited. It should be noted that the General Web Design Standards do not recommend white text on a dark background." It does not preclude the use of colour in its entirety.
Web Accessibility guidelines focus on Contrast & Color
Find colors that provide maximum contrast, including enough contrast between content and the background, so that text and non-decorative images are legible for anyone with low vision or color deficiencies.
Best Practices
Ratio: Text and interactive elements should have a color contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1.
Color as indicator: Color should not be the only indicator for interactive elements. For example, underline links on hover, or mark a required field with an asterisk.
Color blindness: Red/green color blindness is the most common, so avoid green on red or red on green. (Think especially about avoiding using red and green for “bad” and “good” indicators).

As more and more schools are requiring us to accept late work this can mean over 100 assignments in a weekend. Worse, at the end of the terms, it can be 100S of assignments in a weekend. This feature would be valuable. Additionally, not just late assignments but also the ability to remove the "missing" option would be helpful.
