If teachers select to import a Course from a previous term and select the option to Adjust Due Dates and Events, then the calendar automatically populates with all of the assignments and quizzes.  Even if a teacher unpublished the content in their course, the students still see it on their To Do List and Calendar and can click on it to access the item even though it is unpublished in the course.  Is there a way to prevent this from occurring? (besides reminding the teachers to not select to adjust dates). Once this is done, the teacher can either reset course content and start over building their course or go through the calendar items individually to remove it.   It seems like this is an odd feature to allow students to access items that are on the calendar, but unpublished in the Course. ... Currently, Canvas Grade Periods must be set at the Account Admin level. However, this doesn’t work in a K-12 environment.  We have schools that enroll students in courses that run by year, semester, or quarter.  Some of our teachers or departments weigh the quarters or average them to create their final grade, while others keep a running total.  Our SIS gradebook allows for this option, but it is not possible in Canvas for the teachers to set their gradebook up the same way.  As a result, it creates discrepancies between the 2 gradebooks if teachers insist on splitting up their quarter gradebooks within the course. There are many requests for Text to Speech for Accessibility in Canvas, but the reverse is needed as well.  We have found that students can use Speech to Text on Text Entry Assignment submissions using Read & Write for Google Chrome, but it does not work in New Quizzes. It would be great if Canvas added this tool to be built into the quizzes and any place students can type a response to make it more accessible for students needing to dictate their responses. Since New Quizzes does not even include a place to record their voice an audio recording isn't available as a work around. ... View more

Feature Request:  Pop up a warning when navigating away from editing a quiz to give instructors a chance to change the total points that are in the gradebook.  The warning should be similar to one that appears with Rubrics to say the totals are different, do you want to leave them that way or change it.   Why: Currently, in New Quizzes the instructor is asked to add a point total when it is first created prior to building the quiz. If you left the total at 0 or set it at some other total, the grade book shows the points possible as 0.  As you build the quiz and assign points to each question, the editing page shows the total points in the top left menu of the editing page.  For example, if you have 30 questions and each is worth 1 point, the page shows 30pts.  However, the total points possible in the gradebook for the quiz is still showing the initial total created, in this example 0.  To change this, you have to go into the initial edit screen and override the total score.  If students have taken the quiz before the discrepancy is changed, then the instructor has to regrade the quiz to get the points they earned to populate the gradebook.   ...
