Link To Message Individual Student From Their Gradebook

There are many ways to message or leave comments for students (using the Inbox, People feature, and leaving comments on an individual assignment).  Often, though, students are asking questions about their overall grade in a message, and an instructor needs to consult that student's overall grades to answer that question.  Once in the individual student's gradebook, there is no way to message the student directly.  We have to leave that student's gradebook and go out to the Inbox or to the People feature in order to message the student.  It would be nice if a link to message that student would appear directly in their individual gradebook.

Dumb user question here but I do not see this option on an individual student's grade page. And I cannot find info about it in the release notes linked above.
