Does anyone know of any tools that will create accessible graphs, Venn diagrams, and charts?
Something that either integrates with Canvas or whic provides embeddable downloads that can be used in Canvas.
Thanks everyone!
Kelley
Yes, there are several tools available that can help create accessible graphs, Venn diagrams, and charts, some of which integrate with Canvas or provide embeddable downloads for Canvas use. Here are a few options:
Microsoft Excel: Excel offers robust charting capabilities and allows for the creation of accessible graphs and charts. Once created, charts can be saved as image files and embedded into Canvas.
Google Sheets: Similar to Excel, Google Sheets provides charting functionalities that allow users to create accessible graphs and charts. Charts can be downloaded as image files or shared directly within Google Drive and embedded into Canvas.
Lucidchart: Lucidchart is a web-based diagramming tool that offers a variety of templates for creating Venn diagrams, flowcharts, and other types of diagrams. It provides embeddable downloads and integrates with Canvas through the Canvas LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) integration.
Desmos: Desmos is a free online graphing calculator that can create interactive and accessible graphs. While it doesn't directly integrate with Canvas, graphs created in Desmos can be saved as images and embedded into Canvas.
Canva: Canva is a graphic design platform that offers templates for creating various types of charts and diagrams. Charts created in Canva can be downloaded as image files and embedded into Canvas.
Anything saved as an image and embedded into Canvas will require additional steps to ensure accessibility (e.g. you may have to re-create any alternative text or long descriptions associated with the image directly within Canvas). So just be cognizant of what tools you use and what their limitations are.
Adding to the advice of saving diagrams, charts, and graphs as images. This resource will help you with great examples of providing image descriptions for such content. https://poet.diagramcenter.org/how.html#chemistry
