[ARCHIVED] How do I delete a synced assignment from SIS?

It's utterly infuriating that so many educators have this question and Canvas has done nothing to address it. 

I have graded an assignment in Canvas and synced it to SIS. I would now like to delete that assignment from SIS, yet I cannot do so either in SIS or in Canvas. 

Please advise with step-by-step instructions on how to remove a synced assignment from my SIS gradebook.

Sorry for any frustration,

Because each SIS is different, we don't have steps for this process for each specific SIS, however, I looked at which SIS your institution uses, and I was seeing Synergy. I looked through our documentation for Synergy SIS GPB and was seeing

• Once set up for SIS sync, you can enable or disable synced items on the  Assignment and Quizzes index pages. In the Assignments Index Page, you can also disable all assignments from being synced to Synergy.

  This would stop the syncs from occurring for that item, but we would need to look into deleting the Assignments from Canvas, and then delete them from your SIS gradebook after that. That is not what we are asking. I know how to "unsync" from the index page, but it is not removing it from Synergy. The assignment is still there in Synergy after I uncheck "sync to Synergy". I cannot figure out how to remove the assignment from Synergy once it has been sent. I have unchecked "sync to Synergy", removed the due date, and deleted all the students' scores, but it is still showing up and changing their grade. 

Please give more specific help.

Hi! Did you ever get an answer to this question? I have the same issue. I deleted an assignment in Canvas, not it's just "stuck" in Synergy!

I responded to the above as well but I too had this issue and needed to delete a ghost assignment from SIS that was no longer in Canvas. Below is how i did it. I hope this helps!
