Update: I've added the idea to the studio. Please vote if you would like to see this as a feature in the grade center. Thanks!

I have several columns in my Gradebook and many of the columns have a very similar title, so it's hard to tell at-a-glance which is which. I've turned on new grade book and appreciate that I can resize the column width. However, that's not a perfect solution because the grade columns return to default width every time I refresh the page. It's also tedious to have to resize all the columns just to see what assignment I am looking at. Aside from mouseover, it would be great if there was a way to create abbreviated column titles, so I could use a meaningful naming convention that fit the default column width in a way that I could distinguish assignments at-a-glance (i.e., mod 1 DQ, mod 2 DQ, etc.). Does this exist already? I couldn't find a way to do that.
I am also having the same issue. Is there a way to nickname the grade column without changing the name of the assignment?
Oh my goodness! This upgrade would save me so much time and consternation! Thanks for considering!
This would be really useful - we can do this in Blackboard and it makes it easy to name a submission point within the context of submitting, and then rename it for the context of presenting the Marks to students.
