[ARCHIVED] Print Quiz Answer Key

It is Semester Testing time and our teachers are required to turn in hard copies of their test and key to the office.  Most of our teachers are giving their test in Canvas, which is awesome, but creates some challenges as well. 

Printing the Quiz:  When our teachers use the Preview, then print route to print the quiz, they only can see the questions. This does take care of the 'Print the Test' problem, but not the answer key issue.

Printing the Key:  Since most of their semester tests are longer than 25 questions, they can't choose the 'Show Question Details' option to print the answer key.

Is there any kind of work around for this?  We need a way to be able to print the test and key for quizzes that are longer than 25 questions.

 @lhenson ​, you aren't the first person to bring up this issue. There's been a huge ongoing discussion about it over here - . Even though it's technically archived for now, I know Canvas has been strongly considering how to implement this. My recommendation is to go ahead and comment on it and follow it so you'll be alerted to any updates.

As for the problem at hand, my only recommendation is to have faculty "preview" the quiz and then scroll to the bottom and submit it (no need to click any answers). I just tried this and I got all of my quiz questions with the correct answer indicated. Instructors can then print it off (or even better, save to pdf if you've got that on your computers). One caveat here, this won't work unless the quiz is set-up so that every student gets every question. If the quiz is set up this way then when the Instructor previews it they won't see every question (and answer).

 @lhenson , glad it worked and I just replied to your other post about problems you are having getting a quiz to un-publish after printing the answers. It's not a perfect work around, but it should get things straightened out.

I followed the steps but don't see how to print with answers, I know this solution is a few versions back but wondered if there was a new trick.

I just saw this, too, and I think it might have been because I unchecked the settings box to allow students to see the correct answers in the Details window. I rechecked that, and it worked again. Without it, I only saw the questions - since I hadn't answered any of the questions.

This is a related but very basic question about quizzes.  How can I see the editing screen where each question and answer resides?  I don't make the quizzes, so I don't know where ....  actually, I don't know ANYTHING about quiz creation, but I'd really like to see actual editing screens.  (Just a link to creating quiz-question answers would be great.  I've checked all the links I got as a result of my searches and got lots about creating questions.  Not so much about creating answers.)

This thread is now over 5 years old and I am still getting the 25 questions limit. No clarity on this as yet.

@prof_aro  This thread is discussing the question limit that exists in Classic (Old) Quizzes, which is scheduled for deprecation; because of that, our developers are no longer developing new functionality in the code base for the old tool. The solution has been developed for the New Quizzes tool, which does not impose any question limit when previewing a quiz. Please have a look through the resources in the New Quizzes User Group and if you don't see the ability to enable the new quiz tool in the settings area of your course, please reach out to your local Canvas admin for guidance on its availability at your school.
