[ARCHIVED] Report and export of rubric data for accreditation

For accreditation purposes one of our departments needs to track rubrics for 7-8 assignments for each individual student. Currently, they are using paper rubrics for grading and then scanning those into Evernote into a notebook for each student.

Is there any way to export rubric data from either a teacher or admin level for specific assignments? Even a simple CSV file would be great.

This would be handy, a even more so with a reporting feature that included the capability to aggregate and disaggregate the data.

I noticed that there hasn't been any new activity in this discussion topic since you first posted this question on June 6th and then received a reply from  @kmeeusen ‌ later that day.  Have you had a chance to review his response?  I am in agreement with him...in that I'm not aware of any current ways to export complete rubrics out of Canavs via the existing UI.  I think the links Kelley has given you are a good starting point, and I would suggest that you vote for them if you feel they address functionality that you'd like to see in Canvas.

Since you first posted this question, have you found any solutions on your own that you'd be willing to share back here in the Community?  Or, if you're still looking for help here, please let us know that, too.  For now, because we've not heard back from you and because there hasn't been any new activity in this topic for quite a while, I'm going to mark your question as "Assumed Answered".  However, that won't prevent you or others from posting additional questions/comments related to this topic below.  I hope that's okay with you.  Looking forward to hearing from you soon, Brian.

I too am scouring the discussions looking for a solution. I have replied to a similar issue raised by  @bitzerp  in 2016 (Is there a way to view results from all rubrics in a class at once?) and then  @kmeeusen  above has pointed us to the almost identical issue about aggregating rubric scores raised back in 2015. It seems as though a number of posts requesting and voting on a similar issue exist.

 @garth  in 2016 offers a solution using the API (Rubric Analysis Using the API). I am not API savvy and I do need to work towards an understanding. I have 110 rubric results for a Science assessment (an extended project) that I want to deconstruct into their component scores. The rubric has about 20 criteria each worth a few marks. I want to perform some further analytics (in Excel) on groups of criteria that target specific skills (e.g. ICT skills, Science Knowledge Skills, Data Analysis skills). I am currently working my way through Garth's post; although, I feel as though the path of least resistance for me right now is to double enter my marks into Excel.

There seems to be a need by a number of educators across different levels of education that require a front-end Canvas Rubric Criteria Score --> CSV exporter to value add to the data that comes from rubric grading.

I have recently run into the same issue, and was very sad there wasn't a fix yet 😕

It's not terribly pretty, but here's a python script I put together to pull down all rubrics with comments (and print out a handy ABET report file that marks down high, middle, and low grades!)

If this feature does not exist, that is absurd. Being able to draw statistics from course rubrics is a key reason for using them.

We are also disappointed there isn't a way to extract rubric data so we can see the aggregate of how students are meeting the criteria, especially at a sub-account level. It appears the functionality exists for sub-account level outcomes. Please Canvas, can you provide the same kind of reporting for rubric criteria?  One of our departments integrates Watermark's SL&L software, just for this reason, to get more intensive rubric data.  Our in-house developer can write an API to extract it from Canvas, but it would be so efficient if we could get that data from within Canvas.  Thank you for listening!  🙂

I would second all the requests on this thread. Looking closer at rubrics, I can't believe that there seems to be no way to export rubrics data without the assistance of an API. If it were easy to accomplish for all end users (faculty) then you would really be empowering rubrics and outcome data collection and analysis. As it, we have a slick interface for administering rubric grades but no way to get it out.

I echo all of these sentiments. This is incredibly frustrating and defeats the purpose of using a rubric.
