I copy a quiz from semester 1 course to semester 2 course. It states quiz in unpublished module. I make a copy of the same quiz within semester 2 course, make sure it is published. Now students can see it and take it. Why do I need this second copy step?

Hi @CarmenWallace,

Hi Carmen,
If the first copy of the quiz in the semester 2 course states that the quiz is in an unpublished module, can you track down the module and make sure that it's published without making a second copy of the quiz?
I tried but I am actually helping a collegue who states it is not published anywhere else in 2nd semester course because he brings over items one at a time. However, it would make sense to get this message.
Then he makes a copy of the quiz and does not recieve the message and students can see it. Why would the copy with no changes suddenly work for students when 1st copy didn't?
Hello @CarmenWallace!
Thank you for reaching out! We would love to take a look at the quiz and see what exactly went wrong. If you would provide us with a link, then we can look into the issue further.
Also, did it say that the quiz was a part of an unpublished module? If so, then that means that the quiz was located in a module that is not published. Even if the individual item is published, if the module is not published, then the students will not have access to the module.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
Whenever there is a question about students not being able to see specific items, the Link Validator tool can be really helpful in sorting out where the problem is. See https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-validate-links-in-a-course/ta-p/1001
