Catalog Certificate API: possible to create and issue?

Early days for Catalog for us.

It is possible some of our Catalog courses will have mixed enrolments

1. self-enrol via Catalog (certificate issued)
2. manual enrolments into the Canvas course directly.
3. SIS/integration into the Canvas course directly.

I'm just working through what to do with use-cases (2) and (3) and certificates, see if the API can be used to create and issue certificates for enrolments into the Canvas course directly.

Any suggestions on where _else_ to look to find out more on how certificates work?

Are you sync'ing Canvas to Catalog in the Catalog settings? Would this help?

Thanks for your input. My question back in March was seeing who had similar user stories, without getting into specifics.

As it is, we're looking at giving up on Catalog Certificates, with the current evaluation of Canvas Credentials (aka Badgr Pro). Being part of the OpenBadges spec, it overcomes the verification of authenticity that photoshop and a Certificate PDF may encounter.

Thanks for sharing the details of your situation! I can see why you would consider the Canvas Credentials route given that situation for sure. I do think you would have a more seamless experience using Canvas Credentials in this case knowing there are limitations for each option - Canvas Credentials and Canvas Catalog.
