With assignment enhancements enabled this semester, we repeatedly ran into an issue where students told our support staff and their teachers that they submitted work, even though SpeedGrader did not show it. We've found that in almost every one of these situations, the student uploaded a file to the assignment, but never hit the submit button. The only way we were able to determine this was to extend the due/available until dates, then act as the student and go to the assignment in question.
We need a way for these file upload events to be tracked other than the above method, which is complicated and could lead to unintended submissions being made when the date is temporarily adjusted. Even better would be if any uploaded files were automatically submitted at the available_until date/time (a bit like how quizzes should work).
