[Blueprint Courses] Feature Options settings for Blueprint

Currently Blueprint does not sync or link the Feature Options sections under Course Settings. This is a very important option to manage. For example, if a course master is setup with "Mastery Paths", under Feature Options, the child courses will not have this option enabled.

This means that whatever functionality created around "Mastery Paths" will just not work in the child courses until is enabled manually. This may not be an issue for 10 child courses but sure it is for 100 or 200 child courses.

Can we please add the "Feature Options" section as part of the Blueprint course settings sync?

Below is the screenshot of the section we need enabled as part of the course settings sync.

We may roll 200 or more child sections from a master course. Manually setting this in the child sections is time consuming, and prone to missing a section. Please consider adjusting this feature.

Our institution has Mastery Paths turned on at the District Level, so the option is not togglable by our teachers under Feature Options.

As such - when we blueprint a course with mastery paths already set up (we'll called this course a MASTER in this example), the mastery path assignment is blueprinted to the destination course, but the mastery path itself is not set up.

AKA - all of my assignments are there, but none of the settings are there to actually make the mastery path an active mastery path.  Below are my two examples.

Thanks Samuel for another great example. We are not using Mastery Paths at the moment but we really want to start doing this. Adding this feature will be imperative for our processes as well.

We have noticed that when we import into a new course, this does not inherit the features setup in this area. (Even when selecting to copy all).

This would be really useful to us also.

Our institution has begun to utilize Mastery Paths, from the time when it was still a Feature Option. It was recently migrated to Course Settings, as a checkbox called "Enable individual learning paths for students based on assessment."

We feel Mastery Paths is a powerful feature, being able to set point value thresholds of quizzes/assignments to determine what items are unlocked to students within the course. One way we've utilized Mastery Paths is for our Math assessment courses. In the Math assessment course, there is a "Part 1", a "Part 1 Retake", and a "Part 2." Students that don't meet the threshold on their attempt for "Part 1" are sent to "Part 1 Retake." Students that meet the threshold on "Part 1," or "Part 1 Retake," have "Part 2" unlocked for them.

Unfortunately, we've learned that this specific setting is not supported via Blueprint sync. Once we set the content within our Blueprint course shell and sync that content out to all associated course shells, and we check the box for "Include Course Settings," the "Enable individual learning paths for students based on assessment" does not get enabled in the associated course shells. We confirmed this is the case with Canvas Support, and also learned that there are no current plans by Instructure to add Blueprint sync support for the Mastery Paths course setting.

We are requesting that Instructure consider/reconsider adding Blueprint sync support for Mastery Paths, specifically the "Enable individual learning paths for students based on assessment" course setting. Without this support, for large-scale universities such as ours, it is highly cumbersome to have to enable Mastery Paths every term in each individual course shell, just to be able to use the feature.

@DanielP - I agree with you. If Canvas promotes a feature like BluePrint sync and BluePrint locks then all features owned by Canvas should interface with this feature. BluePrints were a major deciding factor to move to Canvas and we are learning how many Canvas-owned features do not interact with BluePrints. So far BluePrints are not supported when using Mastery Paths and New Quizzes. Unfortunately, there are many more non-Canvas/Instructure integrations that do not support BluePrint either; however, this is at least a little more understandable since these items are not owned by Instructure.

Our organisation is starting to use Learning Mastery more, and almost all our courses are Blueprinted, therefore we have a real need for feature options settings to be synced to associated courses
