[Files] Make Files Visible to Certain Sections Only

Files such as syllabi will be different for different sections. Why isn't there a way to make these visible to some sections but not others, aside from putting them into an illogical category like "assignments?"

Thanks for letting us know about that Deactivated user. Could you perhaps share with us the reasoning behind that decision?

The Radar idea stage has been removed from the Feature Idea Process.  You can read more about why in the blog post Adaptation: Feature Idea Process Changes.

This change will only impact the stage sort of this idea and will not change how it is voted on or how it is considered during prioritization activities.  This change will streamline the list of ideas 'open for voting', making it easier for you to see the true top voted ideas in one sort, here.

In a crosslisted course, I can give an assignment to only one section, but there is not a similar option when adding a link or file to a module.  For example, if every section of a class has a separate google meet link, I'd like to be able to have each link visible to one section and not the others without having to create an ungraded "assignment" for each one just to share a single link.

Problem statement:

Currently it is only possible to assign files to course sections via modules. It would be advantageous to extend this functionality so that it is also possible to assign files to sections without having to use modules.

Proposed solution:

Extend the functionality to assign files to sections.
