Currently, instructors use Student View for a variety of situations that are very helpful in understanding how they can the course through the lends of a student. However, there are limitations with student view which cause frustration to instructors, and they would like a more enhanced student view in Canvas with additional improvements to ease the instructor frustration with using the current student view, and make it easier.
The main solution would the following series of improvements to student view below which would help instructors to be able navigate and see from the lens of a student more effectively.
- The ability to easily add multiple test students to the course would allow instructors to use student view to mimic groups and other situations where more than test student would be helpful. Without this, this causes instructors a lot of frustration since they would then not be able to test out and see exactly what students would see through groups or other scenarios which would need multiple test students to help to understand more effectively. In addition, this would ease the burden on instructors as well giving them a chance to add multiple amount of test students to fit a wide variety of scenarios and situations.
- The upgrade in test students to be able to use attendance, inbox, collaborations, external apps, groups, peer reviews, and profiles. This will help to ease stress and frustration as it would give the instructor another way to see the course and the areas above through the lens of a student in a non-destructive manner.
