I am sorry you are having trouble viewing special characters on a presentation your instructor shared. That is odd you can view them on a desktop, but not on the mobile app.
- Does Resetting the Cache on Next Launch make any difference?
- Are you able to view the special characters on the presentation if you open them in your mobile browser?
- Do you know if you have enabled the option for Allow Cross-Website Tracking in your application settings? Sometimes enabling this can refresh course files shared with you in Canvas.
- Do you know what type of file it is that the instructor shared?
