What types of files can be previewed in Canvas?

Canvas supports a variety of document types that can be converted in Canvas. If the submitted file is an assignment and Canvas DocViewer supported file type, the file will be rendered by DocViewer in SpeedGrader. If the submitted file is not an assignment or a DocViewer supported file type, the file will be rendered by Google Previewer.

Canvas supports previews for documents up to 100 MB and 999 pages.

Note: SpeedGrader may take up to ten minutes after an assignment is submitted to display a document that supports DocViewer.

Comments

I have a pptx file which I inserted as a preview.  I have used calibri fonts in the pptx file.  However, in canvas preview, the fonts appear to be joined to each other giving an untoward appearance.  What could be the reason?

@iictmail13 that is odd. I recommend reporting this to our Canvas Support team as a potential rendering bug with your file. How do I get help with Canvas as an instructor?

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

- Nathan

This makes no sense to me. If the students submits a Word doc and I download and edit it, I should be able to upload the file to the student with the changes intact, right????

librown I believe you can. I normally just add comments on the side and post to that student.
